Putting the "Spring" Back in your Break

Putting the "Spring" Back in your Break

Posted by Amy HARTMAN on

Girlfriend, if you’re anything like us, your vacation prep for winter break, mid-winter break, or spring break probably looks something like this: You’re making sure your husband doesn’t forget his swimsuit. Or flip flops. You’re helping your kids pack their suitcases. Do they have enough socks, underwear, shorts, and T-shirts to get through the week? What about their swimsuit? Does it even fit?! What about a sweatshirt, in case the evenings are chilly? Sunscreen? Hats? Packing for families is no small feat!

Next, you’re thinking about a backpack for each kid for the car or plane ride. Family travel is awesome, but travel prep is key to keeping the peace! Audio books. Check. iPad. Check. Coloring books and travel games. Check. Lots of snacks. You bet!

And then, at the last minute, on the last night before you leave, you realize you have to pack for yourself, too. Don’t sweat it, girl! Vacation planning shouldn’t stress you out. We applaud your selflessness but family travel doesn’t have to mean last year’s outfits, random luggage, and a smidge of resentment building in your belly. How do we know how you’re feeling? We ARE you, we get it! Let us help with your vacation prep so you can plan ahead, show up, and revel in the fun right alone with everyone else.

As you daydream about your trip, what do you see?

Are you envisioning a lovely morning sipping coffee on your balcony or by the pool? Pack our Deann romper so you can slip into it and get your day started right. With a front wrap, belt, and pockets (I mean, of course you’ll take your phone!), it’s the perfect thing to pull on for your morning caffeine indulgence.

Playing on the beach with your kids? Our adorable Stella cut-off shorts, with their vintage-inspired cut, high-waist and stepped hem, are fun to play in and flattering, too. Or go with the cozy, drawstring, striped Kaylee short. Either way, comfort and style reign supreme.

Add a playful tee and you’ll be ready to go. Throw on our playful Babes for Change tee or Beauty Ain’t Everything tee (because even with the best mascara, you know it’s what’s inside that counts) and you’ll be ready for building killer sand castles.

If you’re hanging by the pool and feeling more ruffle than tee, our Emin Ruffle top is a French terry muscle tank that strikes the perfect balance between tough and tender. It says: Don’t mess with me! But, hey, isn’t my top cute?

A lot of time is spent poolside on family vacas and another great choice is our easy, breezy Gracie Romper. It’s perfect for chilling out but can easily be  dressed up if you decide to head into town.

At the end of the day, when you want to be elegant but comfy, we’ve got you. Check out our gorgeous Sasha Midi Dress. With its open back and deep side slit you’ll feel like the belle of the ball, whether you’re wearing it for a casual meal with the family or a fancy evening out.

If the weather turns and raindrops keep falling on your head, count your blessings! We are ALL about the sunshine but a little downtime, snuggling up with your peeps, some books, board games, and maybe a movie, is a lovely way to spend a relaxing afternoon of your winter, mid-winter, or spring break. Cozy up with your family and stay warm in our fantastic Keep It Casual Thermal cardigan. Get both colors, trust us!

The key to a successful family vacation is a little travel prep and a lot of letting go. Don’t sweat the small stuff, friends, and savor those special moments, because they’re the fond memories you’ll look back on one no- so-far-away day. Take time for yourself (think: long, hot bubble baths), let your kids stay up a little later, and laugh a lot. THIS is family vacation. Enjoy!
